Back Home in AZ

Of course my freshman year at BYU Idaho came to a close.  It was really hard for me to leave that place because I really started to grow up and learn about myself while I was there.  School ended on April 6, 2011.  Before I knew it I was already back home in Lakeside, AZ.  This was kind of a hard change for me because I knew I didn't really have any friends here, so I knew it was going to be hard on me.  I ended up lucking out because one of my friends Sterling Powell was still in town for a month before he left on his mission.  I knew Ster from high school, and we also played on the same soccer team for one year.  Me and Ster were friends, but we weren't best friends.  One of the first days I got into town he invited me to go to and FHE activity with him, and I told him I would.  After that night things ended up going perfect!  We pretty much hung out every single day after that night.  We did everything together like go boating, play call of duty, eat at Native New Yorker, go to institute, go bowling, and even make rap songs.  He even helped me out when I was going through all the troubles from my wisdom teeth getting pulled.
After getting wisdom teeth pulled...

The thing that I admire the most about him was his good example, and his strong testimony.  Ster was devoted to going on a mission and nothing was going to stop him.  He was doing everything he needed to do, and he was succeeding.  He always went to the temple, which then inspired me to start going to the temple often. He inspired me to start studying the scriptures more often.  I will never forget his example to me it has been one of the greatest in my life so far.  He has become one of my best friends ever.

JD was also one of my best friends that was here in AZ when I got back.  Ster, JD, and me hung out all the time.  These guys have been a great example to me.  Sterling is serving his mission in Villahermosa, Mexico, and JD is about to turn in his papers.  I will never forget these guys they have always been there for me and I respect them so much.

BYU Idaho

Being 17 and one of the youngest guys to graduate in my class of 2010 I still had a while before I started my papers for my mission.  Many of my friends where already preparing for their missions and getting their calls as well.  I decided that to make the best use of my time I would attend BYU Idaho.  I actually had a choice to go to Dixie State College in St. George, Utah or to BYU I in Rexburg, Idaho.  I had a strong feeling to attend BYU I.  I have to admit its one of the better choices that I have made so far!  BYU I really had a strong impact on me during the two semesters I was there.  I made some of the greatest friends, and had so many great opportunities.  I learned and grew so much while I was there.  I had some of the best times of my life as well as some of the hardest.  Overall I absolutely loved it!  My roommates had a huge impact on me.  Scottie Cragun, Carson Fullmer, and Blaine Florian were the best roommates in the world I couldn't ask for any better.

We seriously did everything together, like go to dance parties, longboard, play guitar, buy groceries, go on dates, stay up late, and play video games and procrastinate our homework...the list could seriously go on forever.  We all influenced each other to do good.  This was a major part for my decision to go on a mission.

One experience up at BYU I that I had that seriously hit home for me and secured my decision to go on a mission was when Blaine opened up his mission call.
It was just a normal day and all of us were done with our classes.  Blaine went to the mailbox and lo and behold his mission call was sitting there waiting for him!  Soon we gathered everyone up and we headed up to the Somerset lounge to get ready to open it.  I have witnessed other mission calls before, but for some reason I had the best feeling when I was there watching Blaine.  He opened it up and read "you are  assigned to labor in the Wellington, New Zealand Mission" I felt the spirit so strong and right at that  moment I knew, without a doubt, I was going to serve a mission.

I will never forget my roommates and the example they set for me.  They are some of the greatest guys I know.  I know that all of them will be great missionaries, and will grow up to be wonderful fathers.
